2 Year Old Owen

I took Owen to JCPenney to have his pictures taken for his 2nd birthday. He acted horribly just like when I took him in at 18 months. Crying and not cooperating at all. Luckily just like last time one picture turned out. He isn't smiling but at least it's still a really good picture of him.

I was changing the picture in the living room of him and I noticed how much he's grown up in just six short months. No more chubby baby cheeks but at least he still has his dimples. Even though I feel empty armed, it's just as fun watching him do more and more. He is talking more everyday and learning new words. Even with his toddler meltdowns, I thank Heavenly Father and his birthmom for him.

Slide Time

For Owen's birthday, Barry and I got him a 5-in-1 activity center. It has a slide, basketball hoop, football toss, climbing stairs, and a soccer goal. I thought I'd post some pictures of him playing with it. He has a blast with it.

Our next door neighbors have a swing set with slide but since we don't have a fence yet it has become a problem with Owen going over there. He doesn't understand that it's not our swing set. So we thought it'd be really nice to get him a toddler slide and such for now. Maybe next year or so we'll get him his own swingset.

Opps, not that way!

He shoots and he scores!

Weeeee!!!

Happy Birthday Owen!

My baby boy is 2 today. It seems simply unreal (even though he has been acting 2 for a while now). We had his party on Saturday. As you can see we choose Disney Cars for his party theme. He loves McQueen and Tow Mater.  Owen had a good time playing with his cousins and he loved the presents he received. Thank you to all those who came to his party.

Easter

I can hardly believe the beautiful, sunny weather we had this Easter weekend. Simply perfect. Saturday we hid some eggs for Owen to find in our backyard. He really didn't get what to do but he liked opening the eggs.

Sunday morning we gave Owen his Easter presents. He got Peach Puffs, a Finding Nemo book, a Thomas book, and a wooden train with blocks you can stack on it. He is gaga over trains especially Thomas.

Here is Owen in his new Easter suit. He looked so handsome and grown up. Our friends Melissa & Jared stopped by on their way home to Utah. It was a short visit since we had to get to church but it was still oh so good to see them. After church we ate dinner at Barry's Grandpa & Grandma Luthy's home. They had an Easter egg hunt there and this time Owen knew a little better what to do. He knew the eggs were filled with candy except he would spit out anything he tried. Gross, but at least he didn't fill up on candy.

Today I am getting Owen's 2 year pictures taken in his suit. Hopefully he will cooperate but if we get one good picture like last time I'll be happy.

Conference

I am so thankful for the messages given at Conference. Actually I fell asleep during the Saturday afternoon session so I am so thankful the Church provides ways to watch conference online. I can listen while I work at my computer.

There were several talks that pierced my heart but none like the talk that Elder Kevin W. Pearson gave concerning Faith in Christ. What really hit home was his point that the doubt (opposite of faith) can come from Satan but can also be a habit or attitude that we can change. He listed six Destructive D's.
  1. Doubt
  2. Discouragement
  3. Distraction
  4. Diligence (Lack of)
  5. Disobedience
  6. Disbelief
So, just like everyone else I have some improvement to make that will hopefully make me feel better. We really need to attend temple every month and I need to focus on my blessings. President Monson's talk given Sunday afternoon made me feel like a whiner. Which I admit I tend to be. I really liked President Erying's talk as well. Good thing we have conference every 6 months to get us on the right track.
