30 Years Young

I haven't been too excited about the prospect of being 30. You picture your life and you have certain expectations at what your life will be like and unfortunately I would have liked to be a mom of 2 by now. However, I am learning to accept things I have no control over and how important it is to be happy and grateful for what I do have because I am actually very blessed.

Anyway, we had a quiet celebration for my birthday. New Years Eve Barry's parents watched Owen while Barry and I went out for dinner. We called into Texas Roadhouse and had them put them on their waiting list. The wait was an hour so we decided to go over to Kohls before dinner. It's sort of a birthday tradition that Barry lets me go shopping for a new clothes. Barry's parents gave me a gift card to Famous Footwear, JCPenney, and the cutest necklace/earring set. So New Years Day Barry's mom and grandmother went shopping with me. I used my Famous Footwear gift card and got some really cute Mary Jane church shoes. Then we headed over to DownEast Outfitters (one of my favorite stores) and I got some super cute skirts and a dress. So I was pretty spoiled. Of course everything was 50% off so that's the best part of my birthday being right after Christmas!

30, flirty, and fabulous! Wearing my new sweater, skirt, necklace, earrings, shoes, and hair flower on my birthday last Sunday.

Christmas 2010

We had a good Christmas. Owen was so much fun this year. He is starting to understand why we have Christmas and what happens during Christmas (thanks to Polar Express which he watched at least 50 times). Earlier in the month, he was helping me put bows and tags on the presents I had wrapped and kept asking if it was Owen's present. When we got to one of his he gave it a hug and started carrying it all around the house. We did not get a chance for him to talk to Santa buthe saw him from a distance at the Rigby light parade and at the mall (the line was too long). I also got him a little story to teach him about Jesus' birth and he really likes it.

We were able to get tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert for the 1st time in 3 years. The guest star was David Archuleta. We were thinking why they would have a teeny bopper sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir but his voice was so pure and he sang with such sincerity. We were pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.

The spectacular view we enjoyed all evening!

As usual we all got pretty spoiled. All Owen wanted for Christmas were the trains Dash, Bash, & Ferdinand from the Thomas line. It was so funny Christmas Eve, we were opening presents with Barry's parents and every present Owen asked if it was Dash, Bash, & Ferdinand. LOL. He was a little disappointed until Christmas morning when Santa brought them. He got a new wooden train set, Trio building set, clothing, PJs, slippers, several DVDs, a couple pillows, and a stuffed Grinch and Buzz Lightyear.

I think Owen was having Christmas overload!

New trains and train set

My dad spent the 22nd to the 27th with us since my grandparents were visiting my uncle in Seattle. It was actually nice to have him here. Owen really enjoyed it. This is him enjoying his new set of scriptures we got him.

Barry spoiled me with a Kindle e-book reader and this gorgeous picture of the Idaho Falls temple.

I gave Barry a new fishing vest and a really nice hand mixer. As a family we got the new Move accessory for our PS3. It works like the Wii. One of the games we bought has mini games for kids and Owen loves the bug swatting game on it. He laughs so hard.
