Happy 5th Anniversary!

Tomorrow is our 5th wedding anniversary. Barry commented it feels like our 50th. I had to elbow him. I remember that morning in the car driving to the Idaho Falls temple with Barry's parents. I had the worst case of the butterflies that I actually had to be reminded to smile. They all went away after the temple ceremony. I felt so pretty that day and I still look back at our pictures and I have to agree we both looked fabulous!

I got the idea to list things that have happened since we've been married from Jessica H's blog. I thought it was pretty neat idea so here goes. Since we've been married we've...

  • Moved 3 times living in Idaho Falls, Ririe, and now Rigby.
  • I graduated in 2004 with my Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Held 8 different jobs between us. Barry's now working selling landscape product and I'm developing a policy management software.
  • Driven 5 different vehicles between us. We now own a Hyundai Sonata, Dodge Ram 2500 and a Buick Rivera.
  • Held 5 different church callings. We are ward missionaries now and wish we were back in primary.
  • Had the sweetest and cutest baby boy come into our life!

I hear people talk about how the years have just flown by since they were married. It is a bit hard to believe it's been 5 years already but I think this year has been the only one to have gone that fast. Life felt so slow before Owen and now it seems to be in turbo mode. You just can't win! He he.

Most importantly, I wanted to say I love you Barry. You are the rock for this crazy lady. I don't know what my life would be like without you. I love your smile and how you find humor in even the most difficult situations. Thank you for the life we have together. Here's to many more years to come!

Weening

I posted a while back about our attempt to ween Owen off the bottle at night. Well, after a month we fell off the wagon and now we are trying to do the whole 9 yards. It's not working out well. With teething, ear infections, and now a pretty bad cold (coughing and stuff), Owen hasn't felt well this entire month. There has been a couple days here and there but for the most part he's upset easily and clingy. Owen finds comfort in the bottle and so there is our dilemma. He's used a sippy cup since he was 6 months old and we have found that he likes the silicone spout ones better.

Plus for some reason he does not like the taste of milk. I would have to mix it with formula so I tried some vanilla soy milk and he likes that. I'm tempted just to put the soy milk in the bottle and then after he's used to that then start weening. I bought some Next Step Lipil formula just in case because we will be out of formula after today and it's for ages 9 to 24 months. So, if he absolutely won't take soy milk as a subsitute then we can give him that.

Pictures from the Zoo

Thanks Melissa for taking and sending these pics! As usual, I checked my camera before we left and my batteries were dead.

Trip to the Idaho Falls Zoo

Today we had a play date with Melissa and Harrison at the Idaho Falls Zoo. A lot of you already know who I'm talking about but for those who don't. Melissa and I met our freshman year at Ricks College and have been friends ever since. We figured the other day we've been friends for nearly 10 years. Her son Harrison just turned 3 years old. He and Owen are good buds too. They live in Rexburg so it makes it really easy to get together.

Anyway, the Idaho Falls opened a couple weeks ago and it was finally nice enough that we decided it's be fun to go. Of course we picked the hottest day of the year so far :) It's really cheap to go. It's free for 3 and under and just 5 dollars for adults. We saw the monkeys, flamingos, penguins, camels, lions, and tigers (just to name a few). They had a baby lemur that was absolutely SO CUTE!  Owen liked seeing the monkeys best. He did his fake laugh when he saw them. I don't think he could see the other animals quite as well being in his stroller. I think he'll do better when he's older.

After the zoo we went to Sonic for some much needed slushes and drinks. We missed Happy Hour (1/2 price drinks) only by a little but they sure tasted good!

The Double Wammy, Ear Infections That Is

Owen has been running a fever since Monday. It has spiked to 102 - 103 degrees a couple times. Tylenol has helped keep it down but we weren't sure the fever's cause. I mentioned in my last post about his head cold (just a stuffy/runny nose) and then two weeks ago he had his shots. The one immunization can cause high fever weeks after getting the injection. Plus he was pushing through a tooth. So, we finally decided to get him checked out because he's been shaking his head and pulling on his ears somewhat.

The doctor looked into his one ear and instantly said it was really nasty. His other ear is bad too but not as bad as the other. Poor little guy! So, now he has a 10 day coarse of antibiotics and he also got some ear drops for the pain.

Another Tooth for Owen

Owen's other center bottom tooth popped through the gum line today. Unfortunately he hasn't been any less cranky. Let alone the teething, he has a head cold and it's making him feel pretty cruddy as well. Poor little guy.

Beside my usual computer work and daily kitchen duties, I am trying to juggle Owen and folding/putting away laundry today. I'm literally dealing with laundry up to my elbows. I should just learn to fold and put away laundry after it's dried instead of doing all the washing/drying one day and then the folding/putting away another day that week. It just gets too much to handle and then I have to worry about using the Downy Wrinkle Releaser spray (I hate to iron). I know Barry would reel in reading this because I know it frustrates him the way I do laundry. Well, back to work. TTFN!
