Handy Wo-man!!

Here is the down low. Our towel bar in our master bathroom came loose. It was screwed into dry wall anchors that eventually wiggled out of place. It's been that way for at least 2 months. I've been NAGGING Barry to fix it. Being his busy season, I took matters into my own hands. Not to rag on Barry but there is Barry time and Rebecca time. Barry takes forever getting to and thinking up the best way to fix things but usually gets it right the first time. Rebecca nags and then after getting fed up hurries up and gets the job done (but it takes her multiple time to get it right).

I took the towel bar off the wall and then used painter's putty to fill in the holes. I let that dry for 2 days and then sanded and painted over it. It's not exact match because the paint we used dried out.

I used a stud finder tool and the wood studs weren't in the a good place for the bar (now I know why they used dry wall anchors). I went to the hardware store with one of the anchors and the guy there helped me find a match. Once I got home I marked out the hole positions about 3 inches to the right of the old holes. I even did the right thing and used a level to do it!

Presto! Here is the finished product. I'm so proud of my handy skills.

  1. Good job! I am scared of messing stuff up so I usually just keep nagging. But we had the same thing in our bathroom and the holes were huge!! So we went to Lowes and got a piece of oak and routered around the edges and screwed that into the studs and then the towel rack on that, so it is on good and hopefully will withstand kids trying to do chin ups on it.
